Home of the fifteenth century Merger history and present

Rehabilitate a house with more than 600 years of history has to be a real luxury for an architect. This has happened in the beautiful town of Soglio mountain, in Switzerland. Here the designer Christian speck of FormZone has been found with this stone house of the fifteenth century, in a state of complete abandonment and has been able to make this dramatic restoration that now you can peruse.

On the outside, the house retains its shape and aspect, we did not introduce any new volume, or modify any substantial aspect in its aesthetics. However, inwardly there has been a dramatic transformation in the same.

Now the tradition is mixed with the current aesthetic in this fantastic rehabilitation of the interior of the housing. Have been preserved the original stone walls of its structure, as well as have been rehabilitated the forged of wood, preserving the original aroma of this House. In turn, has resorted to the warmth of natural wood, in light pine, to get some friendly spaces, where there was only rubble. Similarly, the white touches revitalize these new spaces, allowing for greater interior luminosity.

It has made a smart rehabilitation, avoiding falling into vulgarity when it's time to renew a building 600 years old, that many times we can observe when works are being carried out of this type without the look of a professional. The harmony which exists between what exists and what is new is observed through the transitions between some materials and other items, each one respects its protagonism and complement each other.
